Statement on the appointment of the new President and CEO of Credit Information Corporation

17 November 2020 – The Governing Board of the Credit Information Corporation (CIC) has elected its new President and Chief Executive Officer (PCEO) in the person of Atty. Ben Joshua A. Baltazar.

Prior to his appointment as PCEO, Atty. Baltazar has been a designated public sector director of the CIC since July 2019 concurrent with his designation as an Executive Assistant of Commissioner Ephyro Amatong of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). He has been working as a special liaison between the SEC and the CIC since 2015.

He graduated with a degree in BS Business Economics, Cum Laude, from the University of the Philippines School of Economics. He finished his Juris Doctor degree at the University of the Philippines School of Law, graduating with Order of the Purple Feather honors. He worked in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department of ACCRALAW before transitioning into government service as a Securities Counsel III for the Enforcement and Investor Protection Unit of the SEC and eventually, as Executive Assistant to the Office of the Chairperson and Commissioner. He was awarded a scholarship under the Japan-IMF Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA) and subsequently acquired his Master’s Degree in Public Policy, International Program at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Public Policy.

Atty. Baltazar’s fields of specialization/expertise include insider trading/market manipulation investigation, competition law, economic reform policy, credit information systems, and financial regulation.

The CIC shall continue working toward the realization of its vision and mission as the country’s sole public credit registry and repository of credit information under the leadership of Atty. Baltazar.
